The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) has issued Customer Notice 08 of 2026 regarding temporary delays in the processing of business and company name reservation applications.

Due to a significant increase in application volumes, name reservations may now take between 5 and 10 working days to be processed and finalised.

NOTE: CIPC has further cautioned against submitting duplicate name reservation applications across its filing platforms during this period. The prescribed name reservation fee is non-refundable, and no refunds will be issued for duplicate submissions .

Business accountants are encouraged to factor these extended turnaround times into client planning and to manage expectations accordingly.
