PPRA Enhancements to Fix Blocks and Fast-Track Status Upgrades

The Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA) is rolling out critical system upgrades to simplify the Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC) process and to clear the backlog of disqualified agents and speed up status upgrades across the industry. Here’s what you need to know about the two major changes now in effect:

  1. Candidate Agents: Time to Upgrade or Step Back

If you’ve passed your PDE4 and completed six months of practical training, you’re eligible to upgrade from Candidate to Non-Principal Property Practitioner. To do this, you must:
✅ Hold (or have held) a valid candidate FFC
✅ Submit proof of training, NQF Level 4 or exemption, and proof of passing PDE4
✅ Apply for a Non-Principal FFC with all supporting documents and admin fee
✅ Log a query on the PPRA portal to initiate processing.

Note: You won’t receive a new FFC, but your portal will reflect your updated status. Remember to apply within 3 months of meeting the qualification criteria, or risk operating under an outdated registration.

  2. Blocked Agents: How You Can Get Back in the Game

Practitioners blocked under the old Estate Agents Act, for reasons like missing CPD requirements or audit report failures now have a clear path to reinstate their trading status.

If you’re disqualified, here’s what to do:
🔹 Submit the necessary documents and proof of payment
🔹 Send to the right email:
 • Audit blocks: audit@theppra.org.za
 • CPD blocks: cpd@theppra.org.za
🔹 Escalate queries if needed via the same email channels

Once your documents are verified and penalties settled, the block can be removed and your compliance status restored.

What It Means for the Industry

These updates show that PPRA is shifting to a more integrated, accountable digital system. Whether you’re upgrading your career status or trying to get unblocked, these changes are part of a broader modernisation effort—making it easier to track compliance and harder to fall through the cracks.
