Good news from SARS — South Africa’s trade balance for March 2025 came in strong with a preliminary surplus of R24.8 billion. That’s thanks to exports totalling R172.5 billion and imports at R147.7 billion, including trade with Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Namibia (BELN).

  • Exports jumped by 5.7% month-on-month, led by coal, iron ore, and manganese shipments.

  • Imports rose by 3.2%, mainly due to increased demand for crude oil and vehicles.

💡 For accountants, this signals resilience in key export sectors and may offer useful insights when advising clients in mining, manufacturing, or trade.
