I usually spend the first hour of my morning planning and organizing my day ahead.
What sparked your interest in accounting and finance?
My interest in accounting and finance comes from my love of working with numbers and the challenges that come with accounting practices.
Can you share some key career milestones or defining moments?
I enjoy taking on challenges, and working in accounting has been a meaningful part of my career journey, helping me develop creativity and strengthen my critical thinking skills.
What is your role within your company’s finance department?
My role involves preparing quarterly budgets as well as monthly income and expenditure reports.
How do you contribute to the overall financial strategy of the business?
I contribute to the business’s financial strategy by helping maintain strong and sound financial controls.
What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your role? How did you overcome it?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was a duplicate payment error. I corrected the mistake and made sure to take extra care to avoid repeating it in the future.
What tools or strategies do you use to manage the financial operations of the company effectively?
I use Pastel Sage to analyze financial resources, and in my day-to-day work I use BAS, which is the company’s primary software for financial reporting.
Share your strategies for staying balanced, especially during busy periods
During busy periods, I prioritize what matters most and focus my energy on managing my workload effectively.
What do you enjoy outside of work? Any hobbies or activities that help you recharge?
Outside of work, I enjoy activities that keep me disciplined and focused, as they’ve taught me that procrastination can waste valuable time. I also enjoy playing music at clubs as a hobby.
Do you mentor or support other team members in the finance department? How do you help develop the skills of others?
Yes, I do mentor and support other team members. I believe in learning from others and sharing the knowledge and experience I have to help develop their skills.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in a finance department?
They should focus on building a strong understanding of budgeting, variance analysis, financial statements, and cost analysis, as these are essential concepts for working effectively in a finance department.

One valuable leadership lesson I’ve learned is to stay open to new ideas while paying close attention to detail.
What’s something surprising about you that isn’t in your professional bio? A hobby, interest, or fun fact?
Something that might surprise people is that I’m a DJ. I have a real passion for music.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your job, what would it be? Predicting financial trends? Master multitasking?
If I could have a superpower at work, it would be the ability to accurately predict or forecast the economy.
What’s your go-to strategy for staying productive during long workdays?
My go-to strategy during long workdays is reminding myself why I chose to become an accountant. Staying focused on that purpose keeps me motivated, and I believe that hard work brings results.
If you could relive one day from your career, which day would it be and why? What made that day special?
I would relive the day I was recognized as the best cost accountant, as it reflected the effort and dedication I had invested in my work.
