The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) announced the launch of a new Case Management System (CMS) on 27 March 2026, a centralised digital platform for submitting complaints and serving certain legal documents.

The system is designed to improve how complaints and enforcement matters are lodged, tracked, and managed. Through the online portal, users will be able to submit cases, upload supporting documentation, and monitor the progress of matters in real time.

What the system will be used forCase Management System (CMS)

The CMS will provide several entry points depending on the type of complaint or submission, including:

  • Complaints against Business Rescue Practitioners

  • Service of corporate legal documents on CIPC

  • Reports of contraventions of the Companies Act, Close Corporations Act, or Cooperatives Act

  • Reportable irregularities and NOCLAR reports

  • Non-compliance with beneficial ownership declarations

  • Reports of fraud, misconduct, or unethical conduct

Users will also be able to upload supporting PDF documents, track case progress, receive notifications on developments, and view a full history of their submissions.

Who can use it

The system is available to members of the public, professionals, and other stakeholders who need to submit complaints or legal documentation to CIPC.

Complaints can be submitted in two ways:

  • Anonymous submissions, allowing individuals to report issues without revealing their identity.

  • Customer code submissions, where users log in using a CIPC customer code to allow direct communication and follow-up.

Users without a customer code will be able to create one through the CMS portal before submitting a complaint.

According to CIPC, the CMS forms part of its broader digital transformation strategy and is intended to reduce reliance on email and telephone queries while improving transparency and turnaround times in the complaints process.

Further guidance on accessing the system will be made available on the CIPC website ahead of the 27 March 2026 go-live date.
