External Company Registrations Go Digital from 29 Sept!
This article will count 0.25 units (15 minutes) of unverifiable CPD. Remember to log these units under your membership profile.
According to CIPC Notice 45 of 2025, from 29 September 2025, the CIPC is automating the registration of external companies (Form CoR20.1). That means:
✅ No more email submissions, everything now happens through the CIPC e-Services platform
✅ You’ll get a reference number to track your application (but it’s not considered “filed” until payment and back office approval are done)
✅ R400 fee only payable after approval, using the CIPC card payment system
✅ No need to reserve a company name, it’ll be auto-generated
✅ No proof of address needed, CIPC will validate it themselves.
Required uploads include:
Authority mandate
Director resolution
Certified incorporation & constitutional docs
Translations (if applicable)
Securities register (for profit companies)
⚠️ If you already submitted an application before 29 September you do not need to reapply online – you risk registering the company twice!
