CIPC Launches Live Chat Support Channel
This article will count 0.25 units (15 minutes) of unverifiable CPD. Remember to log these units under your membership profile.
The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) has introduced a Live Chat support channel, effective from the date of Customer Notice 20 of 2026.
The service is accessible through the CIPC's official website at www.cipc.co.za during operating hours and is designed to provide customers with real-time assistance for general queries and guidance.
According to the notice, customers can expect instant responses to inquiries, efficient support, and help with general questions. The channel supplements existing support options and is intended to improve the overall customer experience.
Accountants and practitioners who regularly interact with CIPC, whether for annual return filings, beneficial ownership declarations, or company amendments, can use Live Chat for quick, routine queries without logging a formal support ticket. For more complex matters, existing submission and escalation processes remain in place.
How does it work?
You can access the Live Chat by clicking on the blue ‘Talk to us’ icon on the bottom right hand of the screen from the CIPC website. Steps:
You will have to provide your details, including your name, email and customer number. Click the area that your query is relating to.
Remember it is a live chat, so you will join a queue. The counter will indicate the approximate time it will take for your query to be answered.
