The Week That Could Win You New Clients for Free
This article will count 0.25 units (15 minutes) of unverifiable CPD. Remember to log these units under your membership profile.
Money Smart Week South Africa (MSWSA) 2026 will take place from 24 to 30 August 2026, under the theme "Money Smart: The Power of Possible". The campaign is co-ordinated by the National Treasury, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), and the National Consumer Financial Education Committee, and is open to any organisation or individual who wants to host financial education activities during the week.
The campaign's purpose is straightforward: bring together role players across sectors to improve financial literacy and consumer awareness in South Africa. Participation is not limited to financial institutions. Academic institutions, employers, NPOs, government departments, and professional practitioners are all actively invited to contribute.
The Opportunity for Your Practice
For business accountants, this is a practical opportunity worth considering. Hosting a workshop, webinar, or community session during MSWSA 2026 positions you as a trusted financial educator in your community or client base, not just a compliance service provider. As we explored in our previous article, Why Advisory Services Are the Future of Accounting, the shift from transactional work to trusted advisor status is where practice growth is heading. Participating in a national campaign is one concrete way to make that shift visible.
The benefits are tangible: brand visibility, community goodwill, new client relationships, and the credibility that comes from being publicly associated with financial education at a national level. The format is flexible — a 30-minute client webinar on budgeting basics, a short social media series, or a community activation all qualify.
The Next Step
An information session for prospective participants will be held on 17 April 2026. Wishing to participate? You can register your interest at www.mswsa.co.za or email info@mswsa.co.za.
