Don’t Miss the Deadline: COIDA ROE Filing Closes 31 July

The Department of Employment and Labour has officially announced the 2024 Return of Earnings (ROE) filing season under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA). This comes with key deadline changes and an important extension to Letters of Good Standing (LOGs).

Updated ROE Filing Dates

  • Opening date: 1 May 2025

  • Deadline: 31 July 2025

  • Late penalty: A 10% surcharge applies to all ROEs submitted after 31 July, effective 1 August 2025.

Submission Requirements

All ROE submissions must be completed through the ROE Online portal and include:

  • The Confirmation of Employer Details Form

  • A detailed payroll report for the period 1 March 2024 to 28 February 2025. This must list employee names, ID numbers, wage or salary types, and total earnings.

LOG Extension

To ensure uninterrupted access to Compensation Fund benefits, the validity of 2023 Letters of Good Standing has been extended from 30 April 2025 to 31 May 2025.

Key Takeaway

Timely and accurate ROE submissions are critical—not just to avoid penalties, but to maintain your clients' good standing with the Fund. This administrative grace period offers a crucial window for accountants and employers to align their records and meet compliance obligations without disruption.

What to Do Now

Start gathering required documentation and ensure your clients are prepared to submit on time. System delays and last-minute issues can cost time, money, and credibility.
