SARS has released draft rule changes proposing to increase daily storage rent for goods kept in state warehouses under the Customs and Excise Act.

Significant increase is proposed

Storage fees jump from R1 or R10 per day to up to R100 per day, depending on the type of goods and how long they’re stored. This applies to:

  • Detained or seized goods

  • Goods not claimed or cleared

  • Goods wrongly landed

  • Cleared goods not removed on time.

⏳ The longer your goods sit, the more you’ll pay, especially after 14 or 28 days.
