๐Ÿ• EMP501 Filing Season is Open: 1 April โ€“ 31 May 2025

SARS has officially opened the Employer Annual Declaration period for 2025. Between 1 April and 31 May 2025, all employers must submit their EMP501 reconciliations for the period 1 March 2024 to 28 February 2025.

๐Ÿ“ What Must Be Submitted?

Your EMP501 must include:

  • All monthly EMP201 declarations (PAYE, UIF, SDL),

  • Payment info (excluding interest and penalties),

  • IRP5/IT3(a) tax certificates for employees.

๐Ÿ†• Whatโ€™s New?

SARS has launched e@syFileโ„ข Employer v8.0 with improved features to make filing smoother. Employers are encouraged to update their software before submitting.

๐Ÿšจ Why It Matters

Accurate and timely submissions ensure:

  • Employees receive their tax certificates on time,

  • SARS can pre-populate ITR12 returns, and

  • You avoid penalties and interest charges.

Late or incomplete submissions attract a penalty of 1% of your annual PAYE, increasing monthly to a maximum of 10%.

โ— Avoid Criminal Charges

Failure to submit returns, issue IRP5s, or pay PAYE/UIF deductions is a criminal offence. Offenders may face fines or up to 2 years in prison.

โœ… How to File

๐Ÿ“Œ Donโ€™t Forget

  • Keep employee tax records for at least 5 years.

  • Check submission status to ensure it wasnโ€™t rejected due to data errors.

If you get stuck or errors display on your screen, you can sent your efiling and easyfile queries via email to: support@sarsefiling.co.za.
