How do you spend the first hour of your day?
I spend the first hour of my morning getting ready for the day and preparing to go to work.
What sparked your interest in accounting and finance?
My interest in accounting and finance was sparked by the goal of owning my own accounting firm one day.
What is your role within your company’s finance department?
I currently work as an Auditor Trainee within the finance department.
How do you contribute to the overall financial strategy of the business?
I contribute to the overall financial strategy by identifying areas where the business may be falling short and providing practical recommendations on how those issues can be addressed and improved.
What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your role? How did you overcome it?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was preparing for and passing the Tax Practitioner’s licence test. I overcame it by giving myself dedicated time to study and staying focused and determined until I successfully passed the exam.
What do you enjoy outside of work? Any hobbies or activities that help you recharge?
Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, which helps me stay active, clear my mind, and recharge.
Do you mentor or support other team members in the finance department? How do you help develop the skills of others?
Yes, I support other team members, particularly by helping develop critical thinking skills. This includes guiding them on how to gather supporting evidence for findings and ensuring that conclusions, reasons, and recommendations are well thought through and clearly justified.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in a finance department?
My advice would be to focus on becoming registered with recognised professional accounting bodies, as they provide strong foundational knowledge in finance and broad exposure to the accounting industry. This professional affiliation also helps build credibility and keeps you aligned with industry standards and best practices.

What’s something surprising about you that isn’t in your professional bio?
A fun fact about me that isn’t in my professional bio is that I really enjoy watching movies in my free time.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your job, what would it be?
If I could choose a superpower to assist me at work, it would be the ability to accurately predict financial trends.
What’s your go-to strategy for staying productive during long workdays?
My main strategy for staying productive during long workdays is to constantly remind myself of my life goals and what I’m working toward.
If you could relive one day from your career, which day would it be and why? What made that day special?
If I could relive one day, it would be my birthday, as it holds a special personal significance for me.
