How do you spend the first hour of your day?

I spend the first hour of my morning praying and meditating.

What sparked your interest in accounting and finance?

My interest in finance comes from a fascination with how numbers can tell a story. Through accounting, I’ve built a solid foundation in financial analysis and enjoy applying these skills in a dynamic, fast-paced finance environment.

Can you share some key career milestones or defining moments?

One key milestone in my career was being recognised as the top student in accounting when I completed grade 12.

What is your role within your company’s finance department?

I prepare and analyse financial statements and manage accounts payable and receivable within the finance department.

How do you contribute to the overall financial strategy of the business?

I contribute to the company’s financial strategy by developing accurate financial plans and projections, while identifying potential risks and returns that could impact the business.

What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your role? How did you overcome it?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is managing a heavy workload and tight deadlines. I overcame this by prioritising tasks and setting daily goals to ensure everything gets accomplished on time.

What tools or strategies do you use to manage the financial operations of the company effectively?

I manage the company’s financial operations using Sage, a leading accounting software, along with various Microsoft tools.

Share your strategies for staying balanced, especially during busy periods

To stay balanced during busy periods, I make sure to get adequate rest, which helps my mind recover and stay focused.

What do you enjoy outside of work? Any hobbies or activities that help you recharge?

Outside of work, I’ve recently started swimming classes. While the techniques can be challenging, I’m gradually improving with each session, and it’s been a great way to recharge.

Do you mentor or support other team members in the finance department? How do you help develop the skills of others?

I support team members by providing constructive and positive feedback, while also highlighting their strengths to help them grow.

What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in a finance department?

My advice for anyone aspiring to work in a finance department is to stay adaptable. Finance is a constantly evolving field, so being ready to embrace changes and new technologies is essential.

A valuable leadership lesson I’ve learned is to lead by example, demonstrate the behavior and values you expect from your team.

What’s something surprising about you that isn’t in your professional bio? A hobby, interest, or fun fact?

Something fun about me that’s not in my professional bio is that I can wiggle my ears.

If you could have any superpower to help you in your job, what would it be? Predicting financial trends? Master multitasking?

If I could have any superpower for my job, it would be super speed, the ability to complete tasks in a fraction of the time.

What’s your go-to strategy for staying productive during long workdays?

My go-to strategy for staying productive during long workdays is to take short walks around the office park to clear my mind and recharge.

If you could relive one day from your career, which day would it be and why? What made that day special?

If I could relive one day from my career, it would be my graduation. It marked a major milestone after four years of dedication and hard work.
