How do you spend the first hour of your day?
I start my morning by getting ready for the day, spending time in prayer, preparing my breakfast and lunch, and then commuting to work.
What sparked your interest in accounting and finance?
My interest in accounting began in high school, as I naturally gravitated more toward working with numbers than with words.
Can you share some key career milestones or defining moments?
Earning my degree was a significant milestone in my career, along with being recognised and appreciated for my hard work and dedication.
What is your role within your company’s finance department?
I provide financial support to the marketing team, with a focus on managing travel and accommodation-related financial processes.
How do you contribute to the overall financial strategy of the business?
I contribute to the organisation’s financial strategy by ensuring that financial records are accurate and kept up to date. I also support the team by providing reports that help identify reasonable pricing when negotiating new service level agreements for the financial year.
What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your role? How did you overcome it?
One of the biggest challenges I face in my role is managing tight deadlines. I overcome this by practising effective time management and planning my work carefully.
What tools or strategies do you use to manage the financial operations of the company effectively?
We use banking verification controls to ensure that payments are made to the correct institutions or individuals. In addition, fraud awareness training is implemented to help reduce the risk of potential fraudulent activities and strengthen financial security.
Share your strategies for staying balanced, especially during busy periods
I rely on organising my tasks using sticky notes on my laptop to help prioritise and keep track of important work. During busy periods, I also take short walks to reset my focus and have a snack to maintain my energy levels.
What do you enjoy outside of work? Any hobbies or activities that help you recharge?
Outside of work, I enjoy going for walks along the beach, spending quality time with my family, and relaxing by watching series, as these activities help me recharge.
Do you mentor or support other team members in the finance department? How do you help develop the skills of others?
Yes, I support my team members by encouraging collaboration. We help each other whenever someone encounters something unfamiliar or needs advice.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in a finance department?
I would advise anyone aspiring to work in a finance department to familiarise themselves with accounting systems, develop strong Excel skills, and always pay close attention to detail in their work.

Share a leadership lesson or a piece of advice that’s been valuable to you in your career.
A valuable leadership lesson in my career has been to recognise and appreciate hard work, and to consistently lead by example by demonstrating a strong and reliable work ethic.
What’s something surprising about you that isn’t in your professional bio? A hobby, interest, or fun fact?
I enjoy singing, although I’m quite shy about performing in front of others. I usually only sing when I’m with my close family.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your job, what would it be? Predicting financial trends? Master multitasking?
If I could have a superpower to help me in my job, it would be the ability to multitask at super speed.
What’s your go-to strategy for staying productive during long workdays?
During long workdays, I stay productive by having a snack, taking a short walk, or simply standing up for a short while to refresh my focus.
