How do you spend the first hour of your day?
I start my mornings with prayer, then enjoy a cup of coffee while reading to ease into the day.
What sparked your interest in accounting and finance?
I’ve always enjoyed working with numbers, and having an inspiring accounting teacher in high school really sparked my interest in the subject. From that point on, I knew it was the career path I wanted to pursue.
Can you share some key career milestones or defining moments?
My biggest career milestone was qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. A defining moment for me is being recognised for my competence and the value I bring through my skills and capabilities.
What is your role within your company’s finance department?
I work in the audit department, where I’m responsible for conducting external audits and supervising the audit team.
How do you contribute to the overall financial strategy of the business?
I contribute by ensuring audits are completed to a high standard while providing excellent service to our clients. I also supervise the team and make sure we consistently deliver high-quality work to our directors.
What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your role? How did you overcome it?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is managing multiple deadlines at the same time. I overcome this through careful planning and strong time management to ensure everything is completed and delivered on time.
What tools or strategies do you use to manage the financial operations of the company effectively?
I rely on open communication and consistent support for trainees, along with weekly planners to prioritise deadlines and regular check-ins to keep everything on track.
Share your strategies for staying balanced, especially during busy periods
During busy periods, I stay balanced by knowing when to step away and unplug. Regular exercise and spending time with loved ones make a big difference, especially during more stressful times.
What do you enjoy outside of work? Any hobbies or activities that help you recharge?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, reading a good book, and catching up on my favourite series.
Do you mentor or support other team members in the finance department? How do you help develop the skills of others?
Yes, I supervise and manage an audit team, providing hands-on support and coaching. I help develop their skills by guiding them on more effective ways to complete tasks and making sure they clearly understand the work they’re doing.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in a finance department?
I’d advise anyone aspiring to work in a finance department to focus on developing strong communication skills and maintaining professionalism. It’s also important to stay up to date with industry developments and build a broad understanding of business.

A leadership lesson that has stuck with me is to trust in your own abilities. You’ve come this far because you are capable, and as long as you give your best effort, you can’t truly fail.
What’s something surprising about you that isn’t in your professional bio?
Something surprising about me that isn’t in my professional bio is that I’m a complete math’s enthusiast.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your job, what would it be?
If I could have a superpower at work, it would be the ability to split myself into multiple versions so I could handle several tasks at the same time.
What’s your go-to strategy for staying productive during long workdays?
To stay productive during long workdays, I take regular five-minute breaks, step outside for fresh air or sunlight, and remind myself of my goals and what I can accomplish.
If you could relive one day from your career, which day would it be and why? What made that day special?
I’d love to relive the day I received my second Board exam results and saw that I had passed. I was standing on the beach with my dad, and the sense of having overcome the final hurdle was truly indescribable.
